As I was painting during worship again, the gold theme returned as I saw it in my mind's eye being poured out of a willing vessel. No sooner had I asked, the term "drink offering" came to mind. This led me on a journey to find out what a drink offering is exactly? Paul refers to his life being poured out as a drink offering on two different occasions in his letters and it's mentioned multiple times in the Old Testament. In essence, the drink offering was wine poured out over a sacrifice, seemingly "wasted," but in reality "spent" in sacrifice to God. In the same way, I felt God was telling me: my life will inevitably be "poured out" for something, but will I allow Him to take me, like Paul, through the refining process to then be "spent" as a drink offering for Him? Then I can honestly say, as C.T. Studd expressed in the last stanza of his poem:
"And when I am dying, how happy I'll be, if the lamp of my life has been burned out for Thee."
